FREC Programs

Accounting Aid Society provides tax assistance and promotes the economic
self-sufficiency of middle to low-income families, seniors and others in need through volunteerism and partnerships.

Accounting Aid Society was established in Detroit in 1972 by accountants who wanted to give back to the community.  Since our founding, we have helped return more than $262 million to individuals and families in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston counties, and in turn, into our region’s economy.

Named “Best-Managed Nonprofit” by Crain’s Detroit Business, Accounting Aid Society (AAS) is nationally recognized for its mission and results. Since our founding, we have helped return more than $262 million to struggling individuals and families in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

Free tax preparation services are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday during the tax season for households with income under and $52,000 and individuals with incomes under $35,000.  For more information go to www.accountingaidsociety.org.
